Bridgewater Retirement Community Announces Campus Expansion and Renovation

Bridgewater Retirement Community’s Board announces plans for a new expansion and renovation project.  Rodney Alderfer, President, announced today that Nielsen Construction Company was awarded the construction contract, which is to begin immediately.  The project includes the new construction of two large buildings on the campus as well as the renovation of two existing buildings. The 34-million-dollar project will be accomplished in two phases and will enhance the lives of many.

Phase one includes the construction of The Grove, a three-story building with 34 apartments attached to Maple Terrace, located at 210 Virginia Avenue.  At the same time, construction will begin on a new connector corridor building to include a new Bistro with an outdoor dining area and a new assisted living wing with one-bedroom apartments as the demand continues to increase for larger accommodations. This connector will close Placid Parkway and join the Houff Community Center with Assisted Living creating a complete connection for the residents of Bridgewater Retirement Community.

Phase two includes the renovation of Assisted Living. This renovation will enhance the size of our existing apartments and include the addition of a full ensuite bathroom to each room. The assisted living common areas will be redesigned to bring in more natural light and accommodate soft seating and fireplaces for added home-like comforts.  In addition to the renovations of Assisted Living, BRC will be constructing an additional memory support house. The current memory support home, The Gardner House, remains full and the need is only increasing. Phase two also includes the expansion and renovation of Maple Terrace’s Houff Community Center, now 18 years old.  A new coffee shop, expanded wellness center and group exercise areas, a new styling salon, new library, new lounge and soft seating gathering areas with fireplaces are just a few of the many choices for social gathering spaces.

Designing more common areas and expanded activity spaces will encourage engagement between residents, guests, family members, and the greater community.  We are looking forward to a new look and a new feel in both our Assisted Living and Independent Living areas.  Our culture continues to evolve, meeting the requests of our residents and fulfilling not only their needs but their dreams as well.”

The new buildings and renovation plans were designed by RLPS Architects.
