The BRC Dining Team is committed to offering fresh, healthy, and delicious dining options and strives every day to delight as we meet a wide variety of dietary needs and preferences.

BRC currently has two dining venues — The Custer Dining Room and Stevens Café — where we welcome residents, families, team members, guests, and the general public. There are also two dining rooms in Assisted Living. In Gardner House and the Nursing Households, meals are prepared and served by the homemaker and other team members according to resident preferences and needs.

Exciting new dining options are coming soon! Work is underway on new casual dining venues: the Junction and the adjacent Nook, which are scheduled to open by the end of 2019; and the Gardenside Diner, which will open in 2020. Additionally, two renovated and reimagined dining rooms, the Countryside Kitchen and the Skyline Dining Room, will serve Assisted Living starting in 2020. With these distinct and diverse options, dining on campus takes on new life and energy.

Custer Dining Room

Custer Dining Room is comfortably gracious — a sit-down restaurant where the atmosphere is welcoming and the pace relaxed. Tableside service is provided with a smile by dining team members who cherish the opportunity to get to know residents individually. Custer recently reopened after thorough renovations, with updated menu and tableware that uplift the dining experience while retaining the cheerful warmth BRC residents have always enjoyed.

Our main menu offers a variety of appetizers, entrees, and salads. Wine, beer, and cider including some local selections are available to enjoy with your meal. Among the popular menu favorites are the mile high meatloaf, rosemary pork chop, blackened salmon with mango-pineapple relish, deconstructed shepherd’s pie and, for dessert, crème brûlée or molten chocolate cake. We serve Smiley’s ice cream, made less than two miles from BRC with farm-fresh local milk.

The Stevens Café

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, 7 days a week, the Stevens Café is located in the Houff Community Center on the first floor of Maple Terrace. The menu features always-available favorites plus rotating daily specials. This is the place to get a casual, quick bite to eat, come in and grab a beverage and a snack, or grab something to go. Seating is open and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Hours of Operation: Monday – Sunday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.

The The Stevens’ Café will close permanently when BRC’s new casual dining venue, The Junction, opens in late 2019.

  • The Junction: casual dining venue with grill, pizza oven, salad bar, and action stations for stir-fry, sushi, carvery, and more. Outside dining available if the weather is good! Opens in late 2019 or 2020.
  • The Nook: beverage bar with specialty coffee and smoothies, adjacent to The Junction. Opens in late 2019 or 2020.
  • Gardenside Diner: comfortable setting with all-day breakfast and perennial favorites overlooking the Meditation Garden (itself slated for revitalization), with a deck for outdoor tables. Opens in 2020.
  • Skyline Dining Room: well-balanced, appealing meals with tableside service in Assisted Living. Opens in 2020.

    The Dining Team at Bridgewater Retirement Community is happy to plan your special event, no matter how big or small. We have many rooms of varying sizes to accommodate your event from five people to 200. We strive to make sure that every event is executed flawlessly and provide food that meets the needs of our diverse clientele. When developing a menu for your occasion, we pay special attention to ingredients that are in season and, when available, local and/or organic.
